DMSO platelet effects may reduce the need for anti-coagulants but this

is not a drug " interaction " effect in the strict sense. It is a

therapeutic effect that is additive with that of Coumadin. I know this

is a bit technical as far as terms go, but in seraching you may not turn

up additive or synergistic effects if you only search on interactions.

-I figured that out when i read it helped disolve blood clots during

a heat attack, I guess my question is does it intensify the drugs by

being a transporter? When dmso hits the blood stream does it carry

the drugs that are in the blood stream at a faster rate? Or does it

only carry other drugs of a certain weight through the skin and

tissue to the blood stream? I know there was a study don't remember

by whom that they used dmso as a transport vehicle for better

results. Thanks for the help

Any molecule under 1,000 daltons is carried in if mixed with the DMSO

before it is applied topically, injected or taken orally. For the

molecular weight look up an MSDS on the drug (Material Safety Data

Sheet).

If it is not mixed with the drug before administration then there is not

the transport effect.

Hope that is what you were asking.

---Thats what i am asking. So it does not excelerate or intensify a

drug already in the blood stream. Thank you Dixie

I don't know if that is always true. I have photos of artemether

paste before and after being absorbed into a cancerous tumor. The

Artemether paste was not mixed with the DMSO before application. The

tumor was painted with DMSO and allowed to dry slightly, then the paste

was applied. It still absorbed almost completely into the tumor. I've

been told that DMSO not only transports what is mixed with it, but that

after application, the skin remains permeable for some time. These

photographs certainly show that.

However, for best transport into tissues, I myself would have mixed

the artemether and the DMSO. It wasn't my call, but the way it was done

did work, and beneficial results (some decrease in size) was seen in the

tumor.
