If you are pressing from a flat, which would mean perfectly vertical when upright, this would mean you have already lost the battle at the line. I am sure if we analyzed the best lineman we could find the most appropriate torso angle and have the bench set for that. Doing it from an upright postion, while most appropriate, would be tough. You would have to use a device to hold the bar and now you have taken away from the need to balance and control it. There is already a device for standing press that you assume a forward lean and press. Chain suspended dumbbells would even be better than the device, due to the control one would need to press both out and this would represent more of the strength need to push lineman who are not coming at you squared up. This may be trying to replicate a football move too much. The incline bench would be best using dumbbells. Casler writes: Hmmmm Chain Suspended Dumbbells??? I wonder if anyone has ever suggested or tried such a configuration? I wonder if they have tried it with " bands " also attached to the dumbbell to add additional force vectors, sorta like 3-D force training? Sounds vaguely familiar to me. : ) Some might also find Hammer " Ground Base " models interesting. Regards, Casler TRI-VECTOR 3-D Force Systems Century City, CA Quote
