Guest guest Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Overall, my experience with Emsam so far has been positive. The first couple days were somewhat rough, as my depression actually got worse and I had a shitty Easter. But all of a sudden, on Monday evening, I felt a bit of a " surge " , and my mood lifted quite a bit and this has sustained until now. Just the fact that I've lasted 5 days on a psych med is a miracle in itself. Too soon for me to recommend, but the cool thing is I have noticed NO side effects so far. Probably due to the fact that it doesn't pass through the gut and goes right into the bloodstream. The million dollar question - any libido improvement? Nope, but I've only been on it a few days. It could take as long as 6 weeks for the full effect of the drug to kick in. Considering losing my libido on Celexa was a very gradual process, maybe it will take just as long to get it back. Guest guest Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I wonder how safe it would be to try a combo with emsam if it doesn't end up doing much for PSSD. Like, say, dostinex, or a 5HT2 antagonist since emsam does inhibit MAO-A quite a bit, meaning more serotonin. Just a thought. > > > Overall, my experience with Emsam so far has been positive. Guest guest Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I see what you're saying, though I'm not a fan of drug combos. These drugs are powerful and the brain has enough trouble handling one. I think Emsam & Dostinex would be dopamine overload. My plan (assuming I continue to tolerate it well) is to give it a good 8-10 weeks. If it ultimately ends up working, I will stay on it a few more months then taper off. Luther > > > > > > Overall, my experience with Emsam so far has been positive.
