Guest guest
Don't think have used it, but traditionally hypericum apparently. Presumably on logic of strengthening some (perhaps not in place)neural feedback function. Kava to include in rx would be great on several levels of course (intervening in stress loop of anticipating and then relaxing only when asleep).....Hey ho. Horsetail to strenthen tissue perhaps. Why stretch bladder if not a problem during the day? That's very sound sleeping.... Enuresis I have a 9 year old boy who is still bed-wetting, there is a hereditary link as father thinks he was about 10 before he was dry. The boy has been under the hospital enuresis clinic for two years and whilst his occurrences have reduced from 4 times nightly to 1 or 2 the mother feels more should have happened hence a request to me. He has tried alarm blankets, but sleeps so soundly they don't wake him just the rest of the house and he doesn't wake on wetting either. No problem during the day but low volume of urine, currently drinking a litre of water before 2.30pm per hospital instruction. He's been taking oxybutynin 6x 2.5mg for 9 months to stretch the bladder and volume has gone up slightly, more recently also taking desopressinate with little effect. All urine tests negative. He is getting very distressed by problem especially trying to find excuses not to visit friends for sleep overs. Has anyone had experience of treating this as not something I've seen before. Guest guest
My son also had a similar problem and we tried herbs, homoeopathy, conventional medicine etc - what really sorted him out was a series of sessions with crystal healing which left him with much increased self esteem and self confidence. I found the TCM connection of fears, kidneys, eyes (?ears) and knees to be very true for him. regards Herbert Enuresis > > I have a 9 year old boy who is still bed-wetting, there is a hereditary > link > as father thinks he was about 10 before he was dry. Guest guest
Dear , I did my dissertation on primary nocturnal enuresis - my interest came from having a son with this problem. I think the most important thing first of all is to reassure the boy that this is a very common problem (8% of 10year olds), and he's not the only one by a long shot. Primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis ( i.e. was never dry at night, but no daytime wetting), seems to arise mainly from a combination of high arousal threshold from sleep, nocturnal polyuria and nocturnal bladder dysfunction. There is often a genetic element, also indications of a maturational delay of the CNS, and parasympathetic hyperfunction & abnormal circadian rhythm of the ANS. Emotional causes seem to have at best a minor role - unlike in secondary NE. (If you want more info, contact me off-list, and I;ll mail you the diss) We tried everything from hypnotherapy, to the alarm and desmopressin prescribed by the hospital, homeopathy, and herbal treatment...etc etc During my research for the diss I came across full spectrum home training (FSHT), which does use an alarm, but a) it's a different kettle of fish to the one we'd used before (the company actually gives you your money back if it fails to wake the child!), it includes bladder training and c)over-learning to prevent relapse, where he had to drink ever increasing amounts of water just before bedtime. Within 10 weeks of training he(14yrs) went from wetting at least 6 out of 7 nights (and sometimes twice a night) to being completely dry. A relief not just for him, but the whole family!! His self esteem went up in no time, it was brilliant to see! I could also send you the info on FSHT, including the parent manual & article about background, which AC Houts (who'd developped this training) had kindly send me at the time. Hope this helps! Sorry about the length.. Sabine Enuresis > > I have a 9 year old boy who is still bed-wetting, there is a hereditary link > as father thinks he was about 10 before he was dry.
