Guest guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 I would say that there is little effect. I can be just as annoyed in the morning when I am awake as during the end of a work day. In some cases, where the fatigue might come from a long hike, it actually might decrease the effect of 4S. -N On Wed, October 18, 2006 5:16 pm, anthro_pop said: > QUESTION TIME: > > What is the effect of fatigue on your 4 S? > > Any answer is welcome! > > Share with me............Marsha > > > Quote
Guest guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Marsha, I can say without hesitation that 4S absolutely leaves me exhausted most all the time. After a day at work, being assaulted all day long by the noises, I come home and just feel so worn out. There's no energy left to do anything more than sit at the computer or in front of the TV. (with the closed captioning on, I might add LOL) -- Effect of Fatigue on 4 S QUESTION TIME:What is the effect of fatigue on your 4 S?Any answer is welcome!Share with me............Marsha Quote
Guest guest Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Hi Marsha I am really glad you asked this question. I have always noticed a heightened response to sound when i am over tired. 4 S is always present, no matter how much sleep i get... but my own ability to cope with it diminishes drastically when I am fatigued. Its been one of my ways of discussing it with those close to me, warning them that this condition is worse when i am over tired, that they need to be especially sensitive at that time. I can tell my kids that, I am tired, the noises are particularily bothersome at that time. Its been a bit easier for folk around me to understand, i think. It also tells me when i am overtired, working away and maybe not realising how tired I really am. An acute attack of 4S is a good sign its Bed-Time!! When i am getting enough sleep, feeling refreshed, I still react to sound. I may be happy as la la, but there is no way on this planet you would find me ever happily sitting in a room of Gum-chewers. I just find its easier to remove myself from the irritant somehow. Or maybe my reaction is not quite as severe. I am not sure what it is, but the 4S is not as acute maybe? Or my resistance to the emotional response is strengthened? I would definitely say that this is quite possibly a huge component of 4S for me, and only fortifies the need to take better care of myself for my own sake, and for all those surrounding as well. Speaking of... Sweet dreams All Alix > > QUESTION TIME: > > What is the effect of fatigue on your 4 S? > > Any answer is welcome! > > Share with me............Marsha > Quote
Guest guest Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 I definitely notice a difference in the morning when I'm just waking up, or whenever I'm very tired. My senses are pretty heightened and I get annoyed much more quickly and easily than any other time of the day.I've always noticed I'm much more sensitive to everything when I'm tired, and 4S is definitely no exception. Guest guest Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Hello Marsha, If possible, I'd love to lend myself to the clinical trial if it happens. Since I am exploring other treatments in addition to the allopathic medical model, it might make sense. RE: Fatigue. If I haven't been eating properly or getting enough sleep, the 4S symptoms seem to be heightened. It may be my ability to cope with them that is actually deteriorated, but nonetheless, the triggers are more frequent and the rage lasts longer and then the depression/sadness takes over with a vengeance. A cycle that is truly draining in and of itself. (I take additional supplements and vitamins to boost the myelin sheath and nervous system: B vitamins, fish oil/krill oil, magnesium, and DHEA on and off. What are your thoughts?) Thank you for everything, Adah > > QUESTION TIME: > > What is the effect of fatigue on your 4 S? > > Any answer is welcome! > > Share with me............Marsha > Quote
Guest guest Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 I agree with all of the responses, thus far. Sometimes, I am so tired that it will affect me less. However, most of the time, it takes a lot of energy to deal with it, so when I am tired, I will just feel more hopeless and frustrated. It can certainly ruin, what would otherwise be a peaceful evening, just before bed. One of the greatest people I know is also one of the loudest chewers I know, as is his girlfriend. I was going to room with him for a year (I am in college), but the chewing prevented it. I think he would have been a great roommate, but the 4S prevented yet another good time. Help! I think I probably average about 4 people a week, who I ask to chew quieter/stop chewing. I am so relieved to find out that I am not alone in this struggle, but more than anything, I wish it would just go away! Make it stop, so I can concentrate in class, and not want to lash out at people, who I otherwise have a lot of love for. How can I base relationships on something so trivial?! This is not what life is about, but it is controlling mine. Help! And help all of these other sufferers, too! Orin Quote

Guest guest Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Thank you for asking such a relevant question. I find that when I am very fatigued, I am less sensitive to sounds because I am so tired. They still bother me, and I'm a lot more cranky if I reach the overload point, but I somehow don't pick up on them as much. However, while 4S does demand a significant portion of my energies -- some days more than others -- it usually doesn't make me physically fatigued. I will admit that sometimes I get a mental/audio fatigue sometimes, like if I've been sitting at a very loud pep rally for quite a while, then I can't stand to hear any sound, even if it's just my friends carrying on a quiet conversation or some soft music playing in the background. I wonder if this is common among people afflicted with 4S or if it's an anomaly. > > QUESTION TIME: > > What is the effect of fatigue on your 4 S? > > Any answer is welcome! > > Share with me............Marsha > Quote
Guest guest Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Marsha---Fatique does not effect my 4xS. It is with me regardless of tiredness level, mood, time of day, whether I'm alone or with people, etc. If my trigger sounds are in my hearing range, I'm tortured by them. Guest guest Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 > > QUESTION TIME: > > What is the effect of fatigue on your 4 S? > > Any answer is welcome! > > Share with me............Marsha I find that it is probably worse at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day. Probably at the beginning of the day because all the senses are that much more 'awake' - I've just 'recharged the batteries' whilst asleep. At the end of the day I think the brain has been working all day and therefore struggles to block out the noises it has coming into it. Quote
Guest guest Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 No effect. I am sensitive to the sounds regardless of how well-rested or tired I am. I am more edgy about it when my stress levels are high from other sources, or during PMS-time, but sleep or lack of sleep does not affect my symptoms. mjd > > QUESTION TIME: > > What is the effect of fatigue on your 4 S? > > Any answer is welcome! > > Share with me............Marsha > Quote

Guest guest Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 thank you for the reply,, am struggling ever day dealing w/ mm. and just recently had to put mother in nursing home/ whom i cared for 8 yrs. broke my heart / but just can't care for her since stroke.. just thought i'd throw this in-- always wonderd why someone would NOT want to have hearing restored that was born deaf- know why/ because they have to deal w/ same as us w/ mm who are losing our hearing.. it's a whole new world to them,,to go thru the dizzies , balance etc. just like we are only vise-versa. so i've come to understand why a person choses to remain deaf. getting so 'hard' dealing w/ this mm ,, sometimes wonder if i'd be better off deaf.,, but only think it on 'very' bad days. guess i should be glad i can still hear some!!! <right> well, keep up the good work , as i've read bout ur help to many!! will keep in touch ever so often bonnieanthro_pop wrote: Hi yourself. You are probably the only person here who does not have 4 S, but Bonnie, you are so sweet, I just don't have the heart to boot you off!: )So keep on shining your light and help us all feel better.
