Hotze Health & Wellness Center.......RUN! They will suck you dry

financially and you will NOT end up better. Everyone ends up with the

exact same treatment and they will try to force you to buy a minimum of

$150 worth of vitamins on a monthly basis AND they will push you to get

on their allergy serum which is even more expensive. You will spend

around $4000 on your first visit and you might as well kiss that money

good-bye or toss it in the toilet. They took my money, did all of the

above (even when I told them the allergy serum made me feel worse than I

already felt) and to date, I still get mail from them

" encouraging " me to return to the clinic. I promise you, Mr.

Hotze or Dr. Hotze or whatever he calls himself is a control freak. I

know someone who worked for him and I learned that his personal behavior

is even more bizarre than his professional behavior. All I can say is

RUN! Don't get sucked into going to his office. At one point they told me

I was allergic to corn (all corn) yet the vitamins they gave me had corn

products in them. When I refused to use the vitamins and explained why,

they then tried to convince me that " on a molecular level " the

corn in the vitamins was not the same as regular corn. Blah, Blah, Blah!

They will have you come into their office in the morning and keep you

there practically all day long running one test after another. By the

time you are finished, you will feel sick and weak and will be willing to

sign just about anything to get out of there. They will fill your head

with so much stuff that you will come out thinking they are a godsend,

only to discover what a load of crap that ended up being. The allergy

tests are painful and those are what make you feel the worst of all.

Please, rethink going to this guy and save yourself a bundle of

money.

Thank you everyone for your feedback on the Armour and T4 doses. I

think I'm just going to go slow and experiment with it and see what

works best for me. I'm suspicious that other things are going on --

adrenal and/or other hormonal issues, which may be having an impact

big time on my thyroid treatment.

The second question is (and I'll remember to look it up on the doctor

list) -- is anyone familiar with the Hotze Health & Wellness Center

in Houston? Is Dr. Hotze a medical doctor? I perused their website

but can't tell. Does anyone know about the hormones this clinic

pushes -- BellaFem (made from soybeans) -- isn't soy bad for people

with thyroid disease, or is there a difference between soy and

soybeans?

Is the Hotze Health Center expensive? I noticed they don't take

insurance. Usually a bad sign. Thank you and I look forward to any

and all responses.

PS I am noticing some improvement here and there with Armour

added. Already!

Michells, someone else here is using him I believe, unless that was you here around a month or so ago. Are the tests he does for allergies skin tests or what?

Yes, , he does the skin tests. I don't honestly find his allergy

tests all that accurate, either. The couple of people that I know who

swear by him all mysteriously have he exact same allergies to food as I

did. Hmmm, sounds kinda funny to me. Also, when I told a natural doc

about this, he used a totally different machine to test for allergies and

this machine doesn't include needles. I found the machine to be way more

accurate. Ex. Hotze said I as allergic to pepper. The natural doc and his

machine said it was black pepper and NOT white pepper.

When it comes to allergies, you could be allergic to yellow corn, but

maybe not blue corn or white corn. You could be allergic to green tea,

but not other herbal teas. Hotze told me and the other people that we

were allergic to corn, pepper, and tea. Well....to be honest, I have

never had a problem with any of these except for maybe some indigestion

from black pepper. I now cook with white pepper and have had no problems.

Hotze said I have no problems with milk, yet I have always been lactose

intolerant and feel sick when I eat dairy products. When I switched to

rice milk, I felt better. Also, when they gave me the allergy serum, I

got an instant headache from it. When I told the staff, they altered the

serum and had me try it. In the end, no matter what they did, my headache

only worsened. The insisted that the correct serum would take away my

headache immediately, and when nothing worked, they couldn't understand

why I wouldn't agree to purchase any of the serum. Also, Hotze's office

gave me this other serum that is supposed to be something like an immune

booster or flu serum or something like that. (sorry, I forgot what it

was) anyway, you were supposed to take so much at a time. The first dose

alone caused my heart to race and gave me chest pains. I refused to take

anymore of it. I'm sorry, but I think that office can be hazardous to a

person's health.

THANK YOU and Jan:

I should know by now that if something seems too good to be true it

usually is. I wanted to go for the natural hormones (estrogen,

progesterone, etc.) but I read on their website where they do all

this allergy stuff too. And it sounds like they insist. Something

didn't seem right about it. Thank you all for being here and for

warning me away from this (sounds like) quack. I'm just so thankful

for sites like this.

Does anybody know if it's the same type of thing going on at Dr.

Vliet's clinic (www.herplace.com) in Forth Worth? They

don't take insurance either, and their prices start at $3,000 (gasp)

but at least they provide medical doctors and her book is really good.

I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience , and wasted all

that money. Take care.

Am I living in the past, or am I right? I kind of thought that the only way to stop a food allergy was to avoid it. I also kind of thought that blood tests for food allergies was very questionable, even to this very day. The elimination diet is, as far as I know, still the only way to detect a food allergy, other than the fact that we've figured one or two out by the time we've made the doc appointment to do this. I know that pollens and molds, plus dust mite allergies can be done by scratch tests, but you have to still be desensitized through weekly shots of the antigen itself, on a regular basis. That also includes insect sting allergies. I have never heard of being able to be desensitized to food by taking a serum. This sounds creepy dangerous to me.
