Guest guest Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Dear all, I would appreciate some advice for a 35 year old pt who I have been seeing intermittently for a year. She initially came to me with pelvic and low back pain, worsening prior to and during menses, but often present during rest of cycle to lesser degree. Also experienced flu like sx at ovulation. Onset 4 years ago. Took oral contraceptive pill for 2 years which relieved sx for 2 years but then relapse. Then Dx with fibroids so OCP stopped. Dx last year retroverted uterus. Pain resolved with herbal Rx and Chiropractic treatment. History of note - low BP (has been 70/50), hypothyroid (125mg thyroxine), history of manic depression - now well controlled with lifestyle measures and occasional medication (husband is psychiatric nurse and helps pt monitor her Sx). Pt returned to me last week. She is 9 weeks pregnant. Being pain-free last year gave her courage to start a family. However, pain has now returned, though not as severe as at first consultation last year. Supra-pubic aching. Also low blood pressure (90/50 when I took it) causing regular dizziness. There is a family history of early, repeated miscarriage, with both the pts mother and sister experiencing this. The pt hasn't had any spotting. I feel extremely cautious about giving anything other than ginger for her nausea. Can anyone advise me, please? With regards Sue Salmon Quote
