Yes, I remember seeing your posts at the tae-bo message boards, and I have to agree that age is irrelevent when it comes to tae-bo, and alot of other things too. At 45 I feel younger than I did when I was 25..go figure...lol. Your more than welcome to post in the Grannies section anytime you want to, when Robyn set that thread up she was thinking more about people in her general age group than being grandparents...but like you said age is immaterial and we get alot of good imput from our younger friends on there. Thanks for the kind words..not sure how inspiring I am, but I do get alot of inspiration from the people at the boards, and try to give back some of that. I think it would be great for your mom. There is a subtopic at the boards for people with fibro doing tae-bo, I haven't read it in a while, but maybe there will be something in there to get your mom involved. Good luck! Guest guest Posted October 18, 1999 Report Share Posted October 18, 1999 Hello everyone! Wow, I can't believe the response. Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome. Well, I can tell you that I didn't have 45 extra minutes to read the posts but I'm very glad that I did. I am originally from Dallas, TX where I lived my whole life and that is where all of my family and friends are. But, I got married and now I am living in Charlotte, NC. It is has been rough being away from everyone and before I knew it I had gained 20 lbs. I was so shocked because I didn't even realize it. I stopped exercising after I got married and my husband who eats anything he wants and doesn't gain an ounce doesn't ever exercise so that didn't help matters. Anyway, I started doing Taebo last December and I was doing really well and then my grandfather had two strokes and we found out my great-grandmother had cancer so I was traveling back and forth and having a hard time coping since I couldn't be there with my family in Texas. My grandfather and great-grandmother (who is 95) are both doing well (thank God) so I'm ready to get these 20 lbs off. I loved doing Taebo so much before I can't wait to get back into it. I only started posting on the message boards a couple of weeks ago. So I'm still a newbie. But I've been on the internet so long that I don't intimidate very easily anymore. <g> I read a board for a couple of days to get the feel of the community; and then as soon as I see a discussion that I'd like ot contribute to, or if I have a question about something, I just jump right in. Anyway, I taped my other rings so they wouldn't wander. Sadly, just last Christmas we paid to have 2 of them enlarged!!! The 3 I still have & wear are more valuable sentimentally and materially so I guess if I needed to learn a lesson, the right message was sent. I've met some really nice people on the internet... actually most of the people I have met are very nice. But I find that the crazy people do stand out more, they are not as uninhibited as in real life. They can express theirselves better than in true life I find. Also, it is easy for them to take on a whole different personnality (or even another gender!!). I agree that we have to beware of people in life in general. But more so on the internet, because as I just said, it is much easier to put on an act online... I guess I was just traumatized by my experience which was absolutely awful... I was so looking forward to talking to you all. Oh, well. I should get home on Monday, when I can catch up on messages. My brag for the week: 2 days ago I did taebo for 1 hour by memory (no music or video tape) and I made myself SWEAT! The next day, I did Taebo with audio only (because the video wasn't working). Now, that's dedication! I can't wait to talk to everyone again. , I was wrong about the washing machine punches at the end of AL4- I tried hooks and realized that and the class were doing jabs, not hooks. See you all soon. We applied directly to the closest Shriner's that did it (SLC for us) and explained that we lived in LA. SLC understood that they were closest to us and accepted us after we sent Xrays, medical records, etc...and, of course, determined our son was a candidate to be casted. I hope that helps in some way.
