Guest guest
Hello Hannah, >Recently (over the last 4-5 weeks) she has had soreness and dryness >vaginally. Perhaps a silly question - which part of the vagina - could it be the labia are dry? Or is it the vulva - this may explain why the no problem with intercourse... If it is the vulva, I find a mix of oils with a little wax added (like a very thin ointment) applied to the vulva can work wonders. >I remember somebody on the list extolling the virtues of kegel exercises, I >don't know anything about these could someone let me know where to find out >about them please- I would be most grateful! The exercise consists of contracting, holding and releasing the pubococcygeus muscle (this muscle is the one that is contracted to refrain from urinating). When a woman does this exercise, she first needs to lie down on her back, knees bent, legs spread with the soles of her feet facing each other. Once in this position, one should concentrate on the pelvic region and contract the muscle for a six-second count. More specifically, one slowly contracts for one, two, three, and four seconds, then gives an extra squeeze, and relaxes. This exercise should be repeated for twenty minutes, every day. Usually, results start to appear after a six week training. Women can do Kegels whenever, wherever, in whatever position - there's no need to lie down and spread your legs for it. And it's as important for men to do Kegels; that is, if they wish to avoid the dribbles in their later years. Here it's of utmost importance that they lie down and spread their legs first -- honest! * A simple search for " Kegels " gives this http://wellness.ucdavis.edu/women_health/pregnancy/all_about_kegels/ and lots more sites. Guest guest
The below is a quote from another website found on a search and Henriette is right, you do not need to lie down to Kegel exercise, whatever the sex! >> When a woman does this exercise, she first >> needs to lie down on her back, knees bent, legs spread with the soles of >> her feet facing each other. Really. I'm surprised. Whatever - it is my considered opinion that whoever wrote that particular bit of nonsense should be made to do the kegels in the way he prescribed -- daily, in front of an applauding audience. Anyway, it really is a good idea to do Kegels, no matter the sex. Start today, Benn, that way you actually know about them next time somebody asks about the dribbles. They do help with incontinence in the elderly, even if the client has been on diapers for years. And if you switch focus just a teensy bit they help with hemorrhoids, too - even if it's better to actually go out for a walk, daily, for those.
