Guest guest
Hi we have home schooled our MDS daughter since she was in second grade with fantastic results. She is a all A-B student. Dave father to MDS 17 and ny MDS 2. Can't remember if I've asked this before.... but is anyone here homeschooling their MDS kid? Is anyone here homeschooling any of their kids, MDS or not? I'd love to talk to you! I've been homeschooling (my MDS kid) for two years now. I had homeschooled her " typical " siblings for years before this. is my only one at home right now. But next year, one of my girls with Trisomy 21 will be joining , and so the fun begins!!! If you're homeschooling, or thinking about it, please let me know. Guest guest
Kelsey is only 3 but I can already see the benefits of working with her one-to-one. I am considering homeschooling her; although she is starting in a Montessori preschool in June. My question is why you decided to homeschool? And have others used the Montessori approach with MDS kids? Thanks. Tina, mom to , Caroline, and Kelsey 3 (mds) Can't remember if I've asked this before.... > > > but is anyone here homeschooling their MDS kid? Guest guest
Oh, duh!!! I just answered you offlist, and now you've answered my questions! At least some of them! I HAVE to ask, too--are both children your biological kids? I know how rare MDS is, and you said both your kids had MDS. So I just thought I'd ask. Even to ADOPT two kids with MDS seems kind of against the odds. When we did it, it was totally by accident! We didn't know had it until she was 7. What sorts of materials have you used with your daughter? Is she very high functioning academically? Where do you see her going when she graduates from homeschool--sheltered workshop, independent living, etc.? Marilyn
