Guest guest
Hi Graham, Good luck with this. I have tried several times to send Rx to America and they have never been received. Just vanished into thin air! This is all post 9/11. I suspect their postal service is on high alert permanently. If you have better luck, please let me know. Perhaps start with a small amount of Rx first to test the system rather than losing stock and money... Guest guest
Graham: I have been using UK suppliers for pretty much all of my dispensary supplies. There is a heightened screening process of foods and herbal supplements into the USA, specifically, regulations set by the FDA (Federal Food and Drug Association) and Customs. Herbs and herbal products are regarded as foods in this country. They are now subject to very tight scrutiny when coming from international sources, and manufacturers/shippers are required to register their companies with the FDA and the new bioterror screening regulations. There was an August 12 deadline for this, and any shipper of foods who is not registered will receive their packages returned to them (and quite possibly after being tampered with by Customs). Check with www.fda.gov for more details (I learn all of this via experience, quite recently). Shipping food into this country has become a challenge, and Customs and the FDA reserve the right to open your packages AND test/sample them if they feel that the documentation is questionnable. Keep in mind, also, that Ephedra is banned in the USA, so if your mixes contain it, you may not even get the sampled product back. You will be asked if your shipments contain food products by your carriers, and if you don't disclose specifically what is inside, red flags are sent up and the package can not only be detained for lengthy periods of time on " FDA Hold " to go over all the documentation, but if they feel that the documentation is questionnable, it can be detained even longer under an " FDA detention " and can/will be opened and examined. I haven't called these next reference numbers yet to ask my own recent questions about shipments placed on FDA Hold, as a recent shipment of mine was delayed for over 3 WEEKS (and Fed Ex advises me that shipments are usually sent back to the shipper within 5 business days if not cleared): If your shipments are going to come in through the New York area (most shipments do come through Port /Newark, NJ), you may call 001. (or 2389 as well) to ask further questions about the policies and procedures you may have after researching the web site for details. I don't say all of this to scare you, but knowledge is power, and you are better off being prepared in case there are any delays. Tami B. Guest guest
Hi Graham I have been routinely sending tintures to California for about two or even three years now, I always send by post in a padded envelope, and fill in the customs declaration as " herbal remedy " of no commercial value, giving the value as standard cost of tincture. I have only had one bottle go astray (quite recently) although the substitute I sent got through. Expect bottles to be opened, so internal plugs in bottles under the cap (like phytoproducts use) is good, as otherwise the seal will be broken and contents will leak. Guest guest
Dear Graham I send them often and all I do is package as usual and complete a customs slip which is a small tag. Not much to do really. I never have had a problem.
