Guest guest
hi, my doc put me on armour from day one, this sounds silly but the pills stink so bad i couldn't even get them into my mouth. I asked the pharmacy and he said yes they do stink. I smelt like throw up! so i called and they tested me again and my TSH went from 4.3 to 11.3 now i'm on levoxyl 100 mcg. I was on lower doses but this the is dose now. I'm fixing to go back next week and have blood drawn again because i still feel tired and haven't lost a pound with daily exercise and weight lifting. Still very foggy headed. i can't stand that. The pill i take now melts in my mouth. DId i read on a post here that their armour melts under her tongue? If so what brand is that? maybe i need to ask doc for that. Thanks for reading this and please reply with some advice.

Guest guest
Armour IS the brand. You may have another brand of natural dessicated thyroid that is NOT Armour. Armour does disintegrate under the tongue. Guest guest
Fifteen mgs of Armour or any other natural dessicated thyroid is not enough by itself, unless the doc was simply starting you out there. With thyroid meds, we always start slow and build up because most of us can't take that whopping dose that we will eventually end up on, not all at once. Because natural thyroid has DIRECT T3 in it (which is probably the part that probably makes us feel better so fast), it's usually too much for our body tissues to take on all at once, as we either have never been introduced to ANY thyroid med, or we've been underdosed for so long. Each dosage you take, you must stay on for weeks before retesting. It takes time to build these up in your body before upping the dosage in small increments. No wonder the Armour wasn't doing you any good, in such a small dosage. I wonder how you'd do on Armour-only, once you got it built up to an amount appropriate for your body? The dosage I'm on right now is 90 mgs a day, which I split into 3 doses, so that I can continue getting that T3 throughout my body all day long. This is sort of mimmicking the way our own healthy thyroids used to function.
