Guest guest Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 With all this talk of Splenda other sugar things, it made me think of my sugar addiction. Really. If I start eating something with real sugar in it (raw, organic, brown, processed, whichever), then I just can't stop. Then after that I have huge cravings for more. So it starts a nasty cycle of binging on sugar, crashing, craving, and eating more and then all over again. For me it's important to stay away from real sugars (even items sweetened with a *lot* of fructose can set this off). Items with Nutrasweet, Splenda, etc don't trigger this. I don't eat a lot of " sweets " but I do drink diet soda since this is the way I get caffeine to wake me up. I thought I might be hypoglycemic based on what I've heard of hypoglycemia but the doctor tells me I'm fine. Still diabetes runs in my family, along with food addiction, so I come by it honestly. I appreciate hearing about other sugar alternatives. I'll have to try them out. It's all a matter of what triggers the " I can't stop eating sugar " thing. Arrrrgh. , DC Quote
