Guest guest
Last week or so, someone talked about the connection between the piriformis muscle and sciatica. I got out my Touch For Health text and imitated the muscle test position just to see....and sure enough, that muscle, at least on the right side, IS tight: I can't even get that leg remotely into the testing position. The left side's fine. Thank you SO much for that post! Ever since that sciatic situation 3 years ago, which lasted for 7-8-9 months, I've KNOWN something was wrong in the area, didn't know what it was, didn't know when it was going to slip back into the full blown attack and have moved SO carefully and So controlled-ly (is that a word?) that the area never has relaxed. The nerve was so inflammed for so long that damage was done, minorly, to the top of the right foot, but since I didn't know anything to DO about it (and didn't have any insurance), I've just lived with it. I have no idea whether working on the piriformis will help, but at least it's a direction to go, and if I can begin to relax that piriformis area....oh wow... maybe...maybe no more living-with-the-fear- of-a-sciatic-pounce at any moment. Maybe fixing THIS will solve the problem of the leg's wrenching muscle spasms too. Wouldn't THAT be something! The leg bone's connected to the hip bone, tra la... I remember the person saying something about deep PT massage and that after 3,4,5 sessions, things were better. Are they STAYING better? Did you ever try accupressure with this? For all that I mostly lurk here, please know how much I value you all. You've taught me so much, you've moved me so... Mike , I think, talked once about feeling like a fake and a fraud, and the phrase really hit home for me, in my way. Yes, I have chronic pain, have had for a number of years, but it's nothing like what so many of you describe. I live with it. I can do a lot despite it. You've helped. And, just you know, I've been sending energy right back to you, I haven't just been taking! Helena
