Dear all,

Just had an enquiry from a female in her late 20's who is suffering from

alopecia who has lost a lot of hair frm top and front of head following a

trip to India ( also suffered frm months of diarrhoea).

Been to GP, had low iron levels - completed 6mth course of iron tablets.

Now, a year later is still suffering frm alopecia.

As she has consulted her GP I presume she has had the usual tests done i,e

stool cultures, thyroid levels... but will find out more in the

consultation.

Has anyone had success in treating alopecia? All suggestions gladly welcome!

Hi Neelam

I remember as a student hearing that Equisetum in a mix helped the hair to

start growing in a patient who had been bald from alopecia for some time....

Has anyone had direct experience of this?

Dear Neelam,

Do not presume she has had the tests - ask, some GP´s might not bother.

treat the gut. if she's not absorbing nutrients properly she won't get

better. use agrimonia, plantago, buckets of althaea rad. and then some

serious vits and mins. and of course hemp seed oil. and of course a decent

diet.

if she's had months of diarrhoea chances are she's got a paarasite or

several. has she been checked? particularly look for giardia which doesnt

always show up on stool tests. treat with good amounts of artemisia annua

(VERY bitter) plus above herbs for gut.
