interesting snippet from this morning's bmj cuttings service:

Researchers writing in the British Journal of Ophthalmology have linked the

use of steroid asthma inhalers to a risk of partial blindness. They studied

30,000 people over 40 and found that long-term users have their risk of

cataracts increased by up to 70 per cent. The risks grew with prolonged use

and with doses above 1,600 micrograms. More than five per cent of Britons

use steroid inhalers, and the researchers say that the benefits outweigh the

risks. They have, however, called for low-dose prescriptions
