We are in the process of adopting an 8-year-old girl from Nicaragua, and

should be able to bring her home in January or February. Since one of her new

brothers has autism, and I speak very little Spanish, I'd like to find some

information in Spanish for her to read that would explain a little about the

disorder before she meets him. A book or pamphlet that can be ordered or

downloaded

would be great.

I'm sure that she has never encountered autism before, since she is at an

orphanage for " healthy " kids. With all the changes in her life when she

arrives,

I don't want her to be afraid of Brett once she gets home!

Thanks in advance-

Sue

Hi Sue, The Hanen program out of Canada publishes a beautifully illustrated

booklet in

Spanish for family members (about 5-pages) on how to reach with asd children.

(Putting

yourself at eye level, clear messages, talks about echolalies, and how to play

with them.

Its mainly focused towards little autistic children but I think it would do.
