Guest guest
Both of my children were able to move off of Risperdal with the gfcfsf diet - soy seems to make my kids aggressive. Their diet is actually more restrictive - dyes and preservatives also seem to bring on really negative behaviors. Guest guest
Sounds much more like he needs some intensive occupational therapy. Some examples of what an OT might do for him include lots of pressure, which he seems to crave, something to really bite down hard on, like a rubber tube, and other exercises, like spinning, for him to be able to tell where his body is in space. I think OT helped my son tremendously. He used to hug way too hard, touch everything, and have no idea of personal space at all. He is now reasonably graceful, especially compared to other 13 year-olds! Risperdal is not something I would give my child unless I were desperate and had tried other drugs first. It has some pretty unpleasant side effects for some people. In fact, it exacerbates problems with feelings of satiety (some children eat far too much on this drug and never feel full), which I think is counterproductive to OT. If he's not gfcfsf, he should be. My son also needed to take out artificial ingredients, red dyes and nitrites. Guest guest
A pediatric neurologist who evaluated my son warned me that risperdal can cause tardive dyskinesia. That was enough to make me decide not to try it.
