I thought this was interesting. My RD does email me. It is alot easier

than trying to get a hold of him on the phone.

" ....an article in the same journal discusses doctors' and patients' use

of e-mail. A survey done in 1997 showed that 43 percent of U.S. adults

use the Internet to seek health information. Another study, in 1996,

showed that patients would like to have information from their own

doctors available to them via the Internet.

One article reported that some patients at the University of Virginia

and University College London found email consultations with their

doctors less intimidating than face-to-face contact. However, one author

cautioned that, " email in the medical context not only generates

liability concerns but also raises serious questions about privacy,

confidentiality, authenticity of authorship and patient consent. "
