Hi...Probably, someone knows exactly, but taking the word apart,

glyco=sugar, and stearin is some type of stearic acid. That's about all I

Just as an after thought, and to make sure I understand the monograph

you sent regarding glycostearine ...

I understand the information to say that glycostearine is an alcohol

(distillate?) of stearic acid. In cosmetics it is used as a

surfactant, and an elmusifying agent.

Is that close?

The material is an ester, which is the product of the reaction of an

alcohol, polyethylene glycol and an acid, stearic acid. The alcohol is a

polymer in that it has a repeating group and the resulting product is an

emulsifying agent. It may not be the primary emulsifier in a system but

contributes to the overall system.
