Dear Hannah,

Most teaching hospitals run phlebotomy courses. Alternatively, try contacting

the National Association of phlebotomists whose members also provide training:

Urine analysis/ blood analysis equipment supplierand

Hello,

I was wondering if any of you out there could tell me of a UK based supplier

that could provide multi test sticks for urine analysis. I would also like

to know If any one could give me a lead on training for phlebotomy (not sure

of spelling but blood taking) and or alternative measures for testing pts

blood fats- I seem to remember you can do pin prick test on a special test

card thing.

If anyone could let me know I'd be really grateful.

Many thanks in advance,

Hannah Barton

You can order mutlit stix from any pharmacy - i get mine from Superdrug

(take a couple of days to come) I get the bayer GP ones which cover

everything from WBC and protein to glucose and SG. You can get boxes of

25 but ask them to ensure long use-by date as they do go out of date and

then turn wonderful colours.

Ask lind Blackwell about phlebotomy training.

Afterthought Hannah

I have a box with use by date i think around August - not in clinic till

Thursday so can't check, plus a spare container with results chart. i'd

be happy to give you half a dozen as I don't use them that often 9hope

don't have run on them now i've offered) but would rather do that than

have them go out of date. Remind me and i'll bring them to conference if

you can wait that long.

Hi ,

Many thanks for the offer of the sticks. They would be very much

appreciated! I did try to get some through my local boots but they didn't

stock the multi sticks.

Charlotte,

I have checked out the web site you detailed, many thanks for that- I hope

to hear from them soon.

What knowledgeable people you all are! Thanks again,

Hannahx
