Lots of good advice already, but my pennyworth would be high dose garlic

capsules(urinary anti-septic and probiotic) and concentrate on the now

inflamed tissue - copious copius Althea rad. Cat's claw (uncaria tormentosa)

once worked for me miraculously when all else had failed. Also check other

factors have been eliminated - cycling, ambivilant sex, dry vagina due to

menapause (rx no sex in short term). Resistant bacteria may be red

herring....

Pervuvian women sometimes sit in bowls of Malva (a fantastic jungle mallow

with yellow flowers) and ice!

Good luck

resistant bacteria in UTI

I have a female patient, 54, for whom, firstly 2 courses of antibiotics

prescribed by her GP, then my usual treatment for cystitis has not been

successful. I prescribed Barosma betulina tincture 5 ml bid for 3 days,

reducing to 2.5ml bid thereafter. Plus copious quantities of a tea (Uva

ursi, Equisetum, Zea mays, Elymus repens, Tarax fol). She is also taking a

cranberry supplement.

It has reduced symptoms but not cleared it completely and her GP called her

in to say the lab had identified a resistant coliform bacteria in her urine

sample, and prescribed her another course of antibiotics which she is

reluctant to take.

Can anyone suggest whether other urinary antiseptics might be more

effective, or should she take the antibiotics? Thanks in anticipation.
