Guest guest
Our daughter wasn't diagnosed until she was 5 1/2. She had already received all of her shots including chicken pox and Kindergarten shots. I had never heard of autism until 2000. Our pediatrician didn't know or never suggested it to us. The first consious decison I made after learning about all of this was the Flu vaccine. She didn't get one last year and she won't again. The 60 Minutes program was so outdated - I feel as if all of us in the autism community are light years ahead in our approach, compassion, thinking and understanding of autism. I have yet to see a doctor or researcher who has a child with autism come out and praise vaccines - of course I could be wrong on this. Things will eventually turn our way - there won't be a choice. I feel like our little ones are drafted soldiers in this war and only we can help them overcome. The government will not bring them home to us. Shari 60 Minutes Vaccine Story Did anyone see it? I thought it was horrible. Some highlights: ** Deadly diseases like measles and whooping cough ARE returning because parents are incorrectly choosing not to vaccinate, putting their children and other children at risk. ** Dr. Wakefield (who they showed old footqage of) was paid to say that the measles vax. causes autism--a lie. Did they even ask him to comment? They certainly did not say they did. Yet they show footage of him. ** They kept showing Dr. Offert (did I spell that right?) saying vaccines are perectly safe. I hate not fully vaccinating my youngest child, more than any other conscious decision I have ever made. Stories like this churn my stomach. I always worry, is it the right decision? What angers me is that I shouldn't have to worry. They should throw money in the direction of making these vaccines safer---not more profitable. Maybe some of you found something positive in the story you can share.
