Guest guest
Hannah Dosage of hemp seed oil is 15ml a day and upward with 30ml a day, in divided doses, being an acceptable max. Heat does cause a problem with all EFA's. It's best to eat those sardines whilst they are still wriggling or at least still stunned! I believe the populations studied in the famous eskimo/heart disease trials do spend an awful lot of time sucking on prime fresh seal blubber and fish. So all those lovely " Eskimo Diet' books with their suggestions for poached guppy in a dill and lemon sauce entirely miss the point. In fact I believe the reason such people (eskimos that is) do not get other deficiency diseases, even though they live almost entirely on animals, is because they do not cook much (and animals contain everything we need of course, well, everything except socks, newspapers and beer). Cooking destroys everything of course. Vitamin C is destroyed by cooking, eskimos do not get scurvy either, but then they don't get cable television. All oils are optimally best stored in the freezer if you can. There's no need to be paranoid about storing them though. Normal glass or plastic containers stored in the fridge will keep an oil good for 6-12 months. Stuart Fitz
