Guest guest Posted September 22, 2004 Report Share Posted September 22, 2004 Dear Tami sorry for delay - from what I remember my patient was anaemic - his myelodysplasia (ie malfunctioning bone marrow) was aplastic in nature ie his bone marrow packed up and stopped producing red/white cells and platelets so he became anaemic, started bruising etc. He has been multitransfused for about 18 months so this phase has been going on for some time in him. I worked in haematology for nearly 20 years and while we mostly saw new leukaemics with massive white cell counts, we also saw them in an earlier stage where nothing appeared in the circulating blood, but where the bone marrow showed an excess of blast activity which in time presented in circulating blood.
