Guest guest
Dear Hayley I think the important thing is to make sure that you are the only one in the clinic dispensing herbs. a lot of practitioners of other disciplines feel entitled to recommend - and give out - " supplements " for all sorts of problems. we had trouble a few years back from a reflexologist who was selling one of those very expensive cure-all herbal mixtures to most of her patients without any reference to anyone. result - patients walking round town saying " I bought this herbal stuff from the lady at that clinic and it cost me a fortune and I'm no better.... " That's an exteme example but a lot of homoeopaths and nutritionists consider themselves qualified to dispense herbs as part of their work and of course naturopaths use herbs as well. the other thing to check is what people charge. i worked for a while alongside a couple of homoeopaths who were charging double what i was prepared to (actually their charge included the prescription but it didn't sound like that). everyone who wanted decent treatment went to those who charged most as they had to be good and i only got people looking for a cheap option. apart from that - it can be very useful to cross-refer and the more people coming into the place, the more people see your advertising and read your leaflets. you could also specialise - make a point of advertising that you are good with children or women with hormonal problems or whatever. you could change the emphasis every month or so. for a while I displayed (with permission) very dramatic before and after pictures of a baby with eczema in the waiting room and as a result got lots of babies and people with all sorts of skin problems. marianne ==================================================== nne Last BA MNIMH Consultant Medical Herbalist Monmouth Herbal Clinic Tel: 01600 719497 www.mariannelast.co.uk competition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hello all! the clinic I work at told me today they want to expand and get other practitioners in. How has everyone found it working with other practitioners - i mean, are there any therapies that I should beg and plead them not to introduce as they will affect my very small patient intake?!!! Is there anything else I should be wary about or get stipulated before it all goes ahead? Hope to hear lots from you! Guest guest
Suddenly in deep waters!!!! Correctly used I am definately for " before and after pictures " , I would not call it a persons misfortune to be helped with certain problems on the contrary the person is very fortunate. Of course permission is to be given and the persons name should perhabs not be displayed. These pictures can also be of great help for the practitioner as a reminder of progress over time. Yours sincerely, Harvidsson. citerar Markie Walsh : > Dear MARIENNE, > > I would be uncomfortable with the ethics of > using BEFORE and AFTER pictures. Guest guest
thank you Stina the child's mother was so delighted with his progress over only 3 months that she wanted to tell the world. she provided the pictures herself and asked me to use them as i thought appropriate, but i asked permission again specifically before displaying them in my clinic. she has also referred many patients to me, all of whom travel upwards of 80 miles as she lives beyond the usual borders of my practice area. the child is not identifiable from his baby pictures and 8 years on has had no recurrence. she wants the world to know this and i am more than happy to oblige as it also increases my practice, of which i am proud. incidentally, i believe benneton sell clothes, not food, shelter, medical aid or whatever else is required by the subjects of their advertisements. i'm just a herbalist and promote myself as such. marianne ==================================================== nne Last BA MNIMH Consultant Medical Herbalist Monmouth Herbal Clinic Tel: 01600 719497 www.mariannelast.co.uk
