My friend has been going to a naturopath (sp) for lipodystrophy and one of the things he recommended was something called "VIUSID". She gets it from the pharmacy and takes something like 3 sachets per day on an empty stomache. She says that after a couple of months she has gained back some weight on her arms (by the elbow) but most noticeably on the buttocks. I am going to try this as well but was wondering if anyone else has heard of this product or tried it? I will keep you posted

Here is the list of links my Copernic 2001 Pro Search Engine brought up. Double-click on the links. From the allopathic perspective with which I start, this looks, smells and quacks like BS. I only scanned, but nothing I found even began to say what the all natural ingredients found in your body are. My rule of thumb is that the more different diseases (AIDS, tuberculosis, etc.) a product claims to help or cure without description of how, the more likely you are dealing with voodoo or doodoo. It also looks pricey to me ($90/21 sachets from one source).

Another concern is where the "research" was done. Kenya? Rumania? I checked Pub Med. This is not research that the medical community has heard of. The last medical miracle cure for AIDS coming out of Kenya that I recall was Kemron, a form of oral alpha interferon (c. 1992) that proved to be a massive scam perpetrated against many who justifiably feared white, Western medicine in the wake of the Tuskeegee syphilis revelations. Many wasted time and money pursuing the false hope of Kemron, to the neglect of antiviral therapy.

Sorry if I sound bitter about Kemron. I remember a handsome African American in my discussion group who became demented and died as a result of taking Kemron alone. Fortunately, lipodystrophy is not, as far as we know, fatal, except when it contributes to depression and suicide. Viusid seems likely to lead only to spending scarce resources needed for somewhat better documented treatments.
