I'd be interested in knowing this too and will check my CSB book too

on it when I can find it (we are unpacking again!). My son eats

dinner about an hour before bedtime (he is early bedtime kid) so his

stomach is not empty at bedtime at all. I've tried different times

of day but would like to know if there are certain things like fish

oil that would interfere with absorption. Anyone sure on this?

Thanks

I give probiotics at bedtime - and sometimes zinc with it. I

dissolve (okay, it doesn't dissolve) rather mix the probiotics and

zinc with pear juice in a syringe.

and melatonin.

There seem to be different theories--

The HRI Pfeiffer Institute 'bundles' the zinc in their PM supplement to be

taken with dinner. It is compounded in with other vitamins and minerals, the

total zinc for the day all in one (high) dose.

My nutritionist says that zinc should be taken with food to prevent the

nausea some people have when it is taken on an empty stomach. She also feels it

should be spread out throughout the day since she feels there is just so much

the body can absorb at one time.

If you take Brainchild Minerals, all the minerals are together and are spread

out to be taken with three meals.

There is also the theory that zinc works best if not competing with other

minerals or with food, and should be taken at bedtime. I did try this with my

son for a while and saw no obvious difference (although maybe it's not the type

of thing you would be able to observe on the outside)

Anyway, my conclusion is to do whatever works best for your child, and not to

obsess on this one (as I did!).
