Guest guest
Hi all! As I said last night (or was it earlier today?) my husband had an appt with a new doc. About an hour before the appt he decided he wanted to go on to the ER instead, since that is probably where the doc would send him. He was in tremendous pain. I cancelled the appt and took him in. We had a VERY LONG drawn out ER visit, but long story short: he got admitted. They tried three times & could not get an IV in him. Poor guy, he was crying the IVs were so painful. They have decided that tomorrow he will get a PIC line. His veins are shot. I will have to tell you the junk the first ER doc put us through with pain meds later on, but suffice it to say, he suggested Tylenol if my husband was in serious pain. I was SO mad. I told him that would not cut it, so he offered Advil. I wanted to scream and was about to leave. But long story short, the admitting doc (different one) took a totally different angle and agreed that Palliative care is important if that is what he wants. So he ordered Morphine for him, IM (hip). That is until the PIC line is in, then he will get it that way. He will probably being have a paracentesis tomorrow, 4-5 liters, more than that will cause him problems the doc said. He is up over 10 pounds in the last week, and I KNOW it is not from eating. If I remember correctly, his INR & Bilirubin were both 1.2. His magnesium is low, platelets were okay, his ammonia levels were high, but not too high. Normal is 32 and his was 56. I did not find out about Creatinine. Will try to find out tomorrow more information. I am ready to drop, so I will go. I desperately wanted to text you while at the hospital, but did not have your email addy with me. Then I called my kids at home to get them to look it up but the Internet was down,m so they could not look it up. I will update more probably tomorrow evening. Congratulations again Bobby! I am SO happy for you both! in WNC --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
