Guest guest
I have a question that I cannot seem to find literature on. A 31 yo breastfeeding mother was advised to take EFAs to assist with her 8 week old infant's eczema. She is also altering her diet to remove dairy, wheat & eggs. Infant has colic as well. So my big question is, do EFAs pass through breast milk? Thank you for your time Lorie Crawford > > To visit your group on the web, go to: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ukherbal-list/ > >
Guest guest
EFA's certainly pass to breast milk and the composition is influenced by the mother's diet. There are some data in an A Level Human Biology question which I don't have with me here but could copy and send you on Monday if you give me your address. Guest guest
Hi Lorie yes.........apparently essential fatty acids present in human breast milk do reflect those present in the maternal diet. Human milk also contains lipase to assist the efficiency of fat absorption by the baby. Hope this helps Lulu I Essential Fatty Acids & breastmilk > I have a question that I cannot seem to find literature on. > A 31 yo breastfeeding mother was advised to take EFAs to assist with her 8 > week old infant's eczema. > She is also altering her diet to remove dairy, wheat & eggs.
