: The test you want is Urine Toxic Metals, and the best time to

collect is the 2nd day of the 3-day cycle several hours afer the morning

dose. This has a 5 day unrefrigerated survival time so it should make it

from UK by priority international mail. As to your question about sleeping

(posted on another list), tryptophan helps some kids (I think you can get it

there? from 500-1000mg at bedtime); also sometimes a combination of GABA

(500mg) and taurine (500-1500mg) will do it. If all else fails and you are

willing to go to a prescription drug, there is an anti-hypertensive called

Clonidine that helps some kids (0.1mg), and an old fashioned SSRI

anti-depressant called trazodone (Desyrel) which can be very helpful at 50mg

at night for a child your son's size. It takes about 400mg or more for the

antidepressant effect for adults, but at 50mg one gets the soporific effect.

This is often combined with the newer SSRI's to offset hyperness in the kids

and help them sleep. As to the teeth discoloration, the only thing I know

about is the erythromycin kids may get when they're quite young which leads

to discoloration. However, some other moms have reported this, so others

may have some more ideas. Dr. JM

DDI urine toxic element test

heavy metal excretion is the single sample DDI toxic elements test. Also I

wanted to know when the best time to take the sample is. I am currently in

the middle of round 8 of Jack's chelation so do I wait until I've finished

this round and leave it a few days? I've not noticed any great changes as

yet so i thought I ought to see if we are pulling any metals out.

bottom teeth have a sort of mottled look about them as if they are deficient

in something ie they re not a solid white colour like my other sons teeth.

Can anyone suggest why this might be?

Hi .. I'm sure that there can be different causes for teeth

discoloration but my son's teeth became gray.. and mottled while he

had food/nutrient absorption issues when we did SCD and then when I

moved from SCD to a transitional diet plan that still had many of

it's components. When we changed his diet to something totally

different the teeth turned back white.. he also had this same gray

coloring in his skin tone before the diet changes too and that

subsided with diet changes right away. Each child is different and

SCD is great for many kids but my child needed something different

we discovered. I've heard other parents mention the teeth

discoloration so I know it is not uncommon with our kids. My son

seems to go in that direction when he is not well nourished.

Good luck!

If you are using DMSA, check urine.

If you are using ALA, check feces.

If you are using both, I think the general advise is to check

feces.

no, generally people do excretion testing DURING the chelation

part of the cycle.

By the way, excretion tests are not terribly definitive, and

are often downright wishy washy. But no harm in doing it

(unless you take the results to mean " stop " when continuing

would help.)

good wishes,
