Dear all

I have been asked by my husband's cousin if I can help her.She is in her

late 50s and suffering from advanced ovarian cancer with secondaries.

She has lost her hair and is on what she describes as an ECF regime as

follows:

1)Epirubicin injected once a week over a period of hours

2)Cisplatin ditto

3)5 F U (?) pumped in continuously at the rate of 150mg/week

(they started at 300mg/week but it was too much for her). She goes into

hospital all day once a week for 1) and 2).

As a result she has got sinusitis for which they have given her a course

of antibiotics! She has very bad mouth ulcers, and the palms of her

hands and the soles of her feet are deep red and very sore, with the

heels and finger tips becoming " chapped / chilblainy " .

She is hoping that I can give her something benign and soothing to use

externally. She does not live near me and is just too exhausted to go to

a herbal practitioner.

She wants something external for the sore hands and feet and possibly a

mouthwash. I was therefore hoping to get something made up and sent to

her. I am thinking in terms of mouthwashes (nice tasting if possible as

she is nauseous) and cream.

I am up to my eyes in 4th year work and whilst I obviously want to help

her I do not feel I have enough experience to do the best thing.

Help please - there is someone out there who dispenses and sends direct

to the patient I believe? I would of course want to be invoiced for the

prescription.

Best wishes to everyone

Ann

Hand and Foot syndrome. Essential to take high dose B6 ( or P5P), alpha

lipoic acid, as well as topical aloe etc. + Co Q10 for heart.

Key toxicities for teis regime are cardiac, renal, and neurological, along

with mucositis , hand and foot etc. as well of course bone marrow.

simple formula 15 ml qid minimum...you cannot go wrong with this, although

it could be more elaborate too....

A/A Hawthorn (leaf/flower/berry), Ginkgo Astragalus + renal protection of

your choice ( I would use nettle seed). Before during and after treatment.

Use calendula succus, licorice and aloe in a swish and swallow for the oral

lesions. Prn.
