Dr. JM L-Carnitine/Acetyl-l-carnitine > Our daughter has been taking L-Carnitine for 18 months. I re-ordered L-carnitine and was sent one bottle of L-carnitine and one bottle of Acetyl-l -carnitine. Must it be on an empty stomach or away from certain other supps? Guest guest Posted August 6, 2004 Report Share Posted August 6, 2004 We give amino acids (including L-carnitine) 20-40 minutes before breakfast, on an empty stomach. And at an afternoon snack with fruit only. Since amino acids are proteins I understand that the supplemental amino acids would compete with any food protein. So the main point is to give them away from any protein (and many many foods contain protein).
