Guest guest
Hi all, I have a prenatal client that I am meeting with next week who is very concerned about her inverted nipples. Apparently, she has one nipple that has never everted, EVER. Can anyone recommend a few ideas for bringing out her inverted nipples? Is there anything she can do prenatally? Thank you so much! Guest guest
Hi Robin, Have you seen Supple Cups? They can be worn during pregnancy. Guest guest
Has she tried a pump? I worked with a woman who had her inverted nipples surgically corrected in her early 20s....she has incisions around the base of each of her nipples the entire circumference of the nipple...did not bode well for breastfeeding as she had lact II but could not continue to effectively empty the breast.... > > Hi all, > > I have a prenatal client that I am meeting with next week who is very concerned about her inverted nipples. Guest guest
Wouldn't hurt to try the Hoffman technique as a method. A good electric pump will help with pulling it out. Supple cups, Niplette, Evert-it Nipple Enhanser, again a suction device to pull it out. Breast shell inside of her bra for a increasing amounts of time per day (not during the night while sleeping) to see if this helps. This is probably one of those nipples that is adhesed, so manually trying to pull it out might help, it will get quite sore from the handling. A device called a Velcro Dimple Ring was designed to hold the dimpled nipple out between feedings. Not sure if they're still available but this is information I had in old Breastfeeding Answer Book, contact Chele Marmet, Lactation Institute, 16430 Ventura Blvd. Suite 303, Encino CA 91436 USA; Telephone: . She has a facebook site not very active but you might get a message to her in that way. Guest guest
Massage and Supple Cups work on some level prenatally. The most efficient way to evert is the baby's suction. She may feel mild discomfort, or uncomfortable to painful sensations so it's important to make sure the baby has enough of the breast in his mouth.
