Guest guest
My 3 year old son started taking 500mg/day of Valtrex on 1/27/07. I did not notice any change so yesterday I increased the dosage to 750mg/day. Since then, his tantrums are a lot worse and more frequent, he is stimming way more. He actually rubbed his head across the floor and he has never ever done anything like that! I thought that it could be yeast from increasing the Valtrex so I also increased the Diflucan from 50mg to 100mg.It did not help. I am wondering if I should go back to the original dose of 500mg Valtrex or is this a good sign that the Valtrex is working. I can't reach our DAN so any help would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
I know very little about your child from this post, and I'm not a doctor. That said, most folks here start with 250mg three times a day for children to start. My son, for example, was about 30 lbs during the therapy. I might suggest washing off the blue coating and we typically see reports of regressive behaviors for up to 45 days. If you see a regression but mixed in signs of improvement, this is typically what the healing-regression looks like. Let us know what you decide to do. - Stan > > > > My 3 year old son started taking 500mg/day of Valtrex on 1/27/07. I split up the pills so that it is 3 pieces (250mg) each time. There are some regressive behaviors but I have also noticed that when he is calm, he is a lot more affectionate and wants to play. He has stopped pronouncing the word " nose " incorrectly but the late afternoon is when he gets really grumpy and throws a lot of tantrums. No rash yet but I believe that I am on the right track and I just wanted to see what others are experiencing to make a comparison. Guest guest
Hi adree23, I came across your post below & was wondering how your child was doing? My son seems to be going through something similar, (some regression symptoms, but certain things do seem to be improving all the while). We treated for yeast (part of it was yeast related), but he has spaciness and some loss of eye contact that the yeast treatment doesn't help (it usually does). We also wash off the blue coating, so it's not that for us either. Any improvements for you? We are in the third week at this point. Thanks > > > My child is 35-40 pounds. Guest guest
>My son is doing well and is talking now more than ever. He seems to want to learn which is a great thing. We still have problems with Apraxia and tantrums. The MB12 should arrive in about a week so I hope it will fix these issues. When I see weird behavior, I will give him another 50mg Diflucan and that seems to help. Keep me posted! > Hi adree23, > > I came across your post below & was wondering how your child was doing? > My son seems to be going through something similar, (some regression > symptoms, but certain things do seem to be improving all the while).
