I have a mom with a history of mastitis in now older baby. With this one, she has a pretty good clogged milk duct. Tried all the first line treatments. I would like to prevent this from leading to mastitis. Have you ever used Lenore Goldfarb's treatment with potatoes for mastitis as a preventive for mastitis?

Dana,

I have known moms who have done this. It worked for them.

I really only use potato poultices for abscesses. Phytolacca and castor oil work

so effectively, I rely on them for plugs. And if they recur--on to diet.

.....only that it might not work and she might use meds--castor oil and

homeopathy have always worked, IME. She could use it as well, of course. I peel

and grate it--and apply it directly on the tissue when I use it. For castor oil.

just soak a dry cloth with castor oil--either heat it in a microwave or oven or

use a heating pad or hot water bottle after placing it on the inflamed area.

Take 2-3 pellets of the remedy very half hour for 6 doses. She will know by then

if it's working--if so, she can just stop it or take another dose in a couple of

hours. If it starts to come back, she can take another dose--or increase

frequency--it usually doesn't. If it is already mastitis, she can use belladonna

instead.

I have only 'recomended' it for plugged ducts.

For some reason we grated it, not sure where

the grating came from, maybe the ''mother herbal guide'.

I don't remember there being alot of pain involved

maybe because only did it with pluged ducts.
