Guest guest
Just a quick note to let everyone know I'm back from my spiritual fast in the wilderness. I was able to complete a 4-day water-only fast without much of a problem, except that I had waves of nausea. The nausea actually started days before the fast did - it came and went - but fasting seemed to make it more pronounced. The nausea did end when I broke my fast Sunday morning. The worst of the nausea was on the 3rd day, and I had some dry heaves that day. I started my fast just as my menstrual cycle started too, so I'm doubly surprised I was able to endure it, along with hiking up a muddy mountain with heavy gear and pitching a tent in a downpour. But I think there is something about living in the forest for 4 days that just fills you up. Please understand I'm not recommending this fast for anyone for health reasons - but I found that having Hashi's did not put me at a great disadvantage for water fasting. I did take my Levoxyl every day, plus CoQ10. Selenium the first 2 days. By day 3 I became extremely sensitive to smell and didn't want to be near any vitamins or other stuff with an odor. Guest guest
dry heaves, super-sensitive sense of smell and nausea ALL signs of a Vasopressin hormone problem. its a main brain stress hormone that is also our 'water hormone AND it is known to cause Cramps/period too via its effect on water/cells and its Vasoconstrictive actions in our cardiovascualr system.. not a good idea to be flogging the Vasopressin system as its the main brain stress hormone in Chronic stress via its role as the 'mediator' of the HPA axis feedback loop,, and NOT cortisol... in *chronic stress. -Carol Vasopressin also works with the LIver to releasee Storage/sugar and it also is affected in the intestines/ eating fats for example... you may want to do more rsearch on its role in fasting and digestive tract in general > > Just a quick note to let everyone know I'm back from my spiritual fast in the wilderness. Guest guest
Just to let you know, my period was exactly on time, so that wasn't brought on by the fast. I am back to normal periods now every 28 days since I lowered my dosage of Levoxyl. If anything I had fewer cramps than usual during the fast. I know nothing about Vasopressin or a hormone problem and it sounds like an obscure thing to research or pursue, the little googling I just did on it. But I have little patience for the complex hormone theories any more - then again, I feel pretty good most of the time. Since the nausea began before the fast it didn't surprise me that having nothing in my stomach would make it worse. The heightened sense of smell I'm guessing was my body's instinctive response to an empty stomach and wanting to hunt out sources of food. > > > > Just a quick note to let everyone know I'm back from my spiritual fast in the wilderness. Guest guest
ya i didn't mean vasopressin causes a period to start (i was just clarifying what Type of 'cramps' that Vasopressin has been documented -tho yes i am sure its involved in foot cramps too but Vasopressin is NOT off topic on a thryoid forum! afterall RLC labs and Forrest pharmaceuticals warn about DI on their *Thyroid RX* literature " Prescribing information " ! plus,, GOOGLE: Hypothyroid Vasopressin and note how many hundred thousand of times return! Vasopressin is know to cause many " hypot " symtpoms! including anxiety and Tinnitus and menierre's and Dilutional hyponatremia and Postural hypotension! and cardiovascular issues. and Vasopresin works with LIver/ for sugar handling and Vasopressin and the Intestines/fat ingestion/cholestykinon (SP causes vasopressin to be released!! so bother our liquid/diuretic consumption And our Food/types consumption affect our Vasopresin level +which can affect one's possiblity to get cramps and etc. and Merck Maual lists Vasopresin (ADH!) and Hypot and Adrenal insufficiency all together in their HYponatremia page and notes that we release Vasopressin for osmotic reasons (water to solute ratio ) but also for Pain and EMotional Stress. and other conventional texts for many yeras note that Vasopressin is the Mediator of the HPA axis feedback loop in CHronic stress, not cortisol. > > > > > > Just a quick note to let everyone know I'm back from my spiritual fast in the wilderness.
