Guest guest
Our son had " drop attacks " prior to his decompression surgery. He would fall to the ground and he could not get up. He told us that he had no use of his legs. His father would have to pick him up. Our son was 9-10 years old at the time. We really did not know what was going on at the time and we did not understand the phenomenon. He had about 5 episodes with no warning. After surgery, this resolved. After doing research, it now makes sense...most likely his spinal cord was being compressed with the chiari malformation causing a temporary paralysis. We would place him in a warm tub to soak and then to bed to rest. In a few hours, he had use of his legs. With Chiari, there can be compression of the cerebellum, brainstem and spinal cord, all causing various symptoms.
Guest guest
My experience with my Drop attacks are little but they come and go (about 1 -2 a month). I could be walking or just getting up and I just feel my leg/ Hip area give out. Its a small sharp pain that you feel shoot down the area, then mine goes numb and its back to normal, like nothing ever happened within seconds. Its usually on one side only. I have never had both sides at the same time. Hope this helps, Blessing everyone. a from MD ACM & SM
