Guest guest
Hi everyone, Well, we did Paris' (4y3m old) *unsedated* brain MRI this morning, and she did awesome! We went in with the attitude that we would just try it, and left the one with full sedation scheduled for the end of April. The tech was very skeptical and said he had never successfully scanned anyone younger than 6 and usually more like 8 or 9. Paris is normally very hyper. I gave her Benadryl about an hour ahead of time and explained the whole process to her (she's very bright; it probably wouldn't go over the same for a lot of of kids her age). She was also promised a " prize " of her choice for after. I stayed in there and rubbed her legs the whole time. When she got scared when the loud noises started (even though she expected it), I told her that is probably what it sounds like on ET's space-ship when it starts (that is her favorite movie right now). I pretty much just coached her the whole way through it. Her eyes darted around a lot, but she didn't move at all! When the tech came back in, I thought he was going to hug us-LOL! He said I was excellent and told Paris what a wonderful job she did. He went on about how much money we just saved the organization (like I care-LOL-jk), how much better it was for us, etc (yeah, I know), and he wishes they could give Paris a present. Then he took us through the department and announced to all the techs that " this little star just got scanned " (and they don't do sedation there, so everyone knew what that meant). It was maybe a little over the top, but I thought it was nice that they gave her some recognition . Also, I got Ariana's full-spine follow-up scheduled with the other NSG in the office for April 7. That process actually went very smoothly, and the PA didn't even seem surprised! Hmm... -Beth- Sent from my iPhone
