Guest guest
Thanks folks for all the info/ideas about tablets and accessing emr when away from the office. My next question is mostly directed to AC users as I'm considering its pros/cons (looking for best bang for the buck, right Larry?). Can you tell how much hard drive space AC uses? It certainly seems like a simple basic program. But I wonder how large the files get if you add images, faxes, labs, reports, progress notes, letters, etc. Could it all fit easily on a laptop with 40gb? Need 80gb? One of this week's enchanting ideas (they come and go for me) is not just having the computer in the office and accessing the emr thru the internet, but rather having the whole emr on a good laptop (with appropriate daily backup of info) to access whether I can connect to internet or not. I imagine coaching little league baseball or being at a friend's house (laptop in car when possible) and getting a call from the ED... it would be great to have more than enough info at my fingertips during the 5-10 minute call to help the ED doc provide the best care. With an ultralight office (800-1000? patients) this will only happen so often. But it would fit with the concept of the care system I work within helping me to maximize the quality of care provided. As I said, it is one of this week's enchanting ideas (obsession? ;-) as I consider the jump and possible details/hurdles.
