Yes, BUT, in Canada you might also wait a year or longer to get a treatment that would be done in 5 or 6 months here too. My aunt and uncle live next to some Canadians here in FL (snowbirds), and he (the neighbor) found out hes got cancer. It was another 6 months after the diagnosis came before he got any kind of chemo and it took him over a year to find out what was wrong with him. He came down to FL and his doctor here told him had he been diagnosed here, he would have been started on chemo right away with the kind of cancer he has.

A friend of mine broke her ankle and the doctor in Canada (she is Canadian) did a hack job on her leg fixing it. She had seepage from her incision for over a year. She couldnt get another doctor to fix what this hack did b/c they didnt want to touc his work. She was in the process of moving legally to the US, so we convinced her to go to an American doc and he fixed the incision, but also he fixed what the hack did- he bent a screw somehow in her leg and it was compressed against one of her nerves...so they fixed that. Then he cleaned out all of the infection that had been brewing for a year and fixed that. Shes lucky that she didnt lose the feeling in her foot for one thing, but also that she plain didnt lose the foot all together.

I really think that it really depends a lot on who sees you and where you are. In Western NY the system is a whole lot different than in Florida. But, in Western NY its also different in some ways from NYC. Ive seen good docs in NY and Ive seen bad ones...same here in Florida. However, I do think the system in NY is better overall than in Fl.
