Guest guest
Our transplant access database is home grown. Only tracks transplant information such as evals, lab report data, transplant date, discharge date, readmits etc. Finance has it's own tracking system for reimbursement. I have my own insurance access data base for listed patients. This enables me to query by payor and check eligibility as often as possible. Not a very efficient system to say the least. Hartford Hospital Transplant Program >>> a.Summa@... 08/24/04 07:19AM >>> Hello all, I had posed this question to the group recently, but only recvd one reply! (thank you, Kim!) I am once again asking, but this time will be more " generic " in my question. What types of program(s) are you using for your clinical/financial database? OTTR? Teleresults? any others? We are currently looking to change ours and here are some questions our IS Coordinator is wanting me to ask: How long did implementation take? How much customization did you do? Any examples? How is vendor's customer support? How many users do you have? What kind of patient volumes do you deal with? How many facilities do you have? Do you use Crystal reporting in conjunction with this product? How long have you used the product? Problems/concerns during/after implementation? I would also add - specifically for myself: Is there sufficient financial information included in your database? (I've heard some of them are much more clinical than financial). Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please respond DIRECTLY TO MY EMAIL and not to the entire group.... paula.summa@... Guest guest
Hi All, While I can offer no opinion on a data base, I would like to offer the following thoughts: 1. None of the data bases will do you any good if you do not have adequate staff to support it. Please do not purchase one with the idea that everyone will do a little bit of it to keep it up to date. You will need an adequate number of FTE's for its care and feeding. 2. Be clear on what you want, do you want a " clinical " or " research " based program. There is a very large difference in the amount of data that must be entered and maintained. And remember, " research " is not an allowable Medicare cost, so the " research " component would not be allowed in the Organ Acquisition Cost Centers. 3. The only portion of the cost of the program that is allowable in the Organ Acquisition Cost Centers is the portion that is utilized during the pre-transplant evaluation process and for live donors. Otherwise, the costs are inpatient related or post transplant related which would be either hospital based outpatient clinic or doctors office costs. Hope this helps, Thanks, Bill Transplant database Hello all, I had posed this question to the group recently, but only recvd one reply! (thank you, Kim!)
