I know that this is the way it is for physicians. However, question----I thought physicians could bill for a consult that is a chart review. I have heard talk our physicians may begin to do this but of course I need to check to see if this is allowable. Guest guest Posted October 5, 2004 Report Share Posted October 5, 2004 HI, I do not think that just a " chart review " is a billable service. Please double check. I know that there is a code for it but, there are codes for a lot of things that Medicare does not cover. There has been an OIG case where the docs were reviewing charts, and changing Meds post transplant and then billing without seeing the patient. The OIG hit them hard.
