Guest guest
Hi everybody, I asked before and ask now once again. If anybody has experienced an improvement in health and well being I would love to hear about it and maybe use it in my manuscript. I know I read something about the eyesight getting better (which I have experienced myself) but I don't remember who wrote the mail and I don't have ity anymore. Please tell again as that is the subject I am writing on right now in my manuscript. I will also love to hear other stories. Guest guest
AnJa – It was me who wrote about improving eyesight. Before I used to wear trifocals (and I was in my 20’s) and when I started eating macro (about the tender age of 30), my eyes started bothering me and figured I needed to go and have my eyes checked. I work on computers, which is really hard on your eyes to begin with. So I made an appt, and the guy goes you don’t need trifocals and I have been single vision, and my prescription is fairly weak to be honest. It’s practically what it was when I was a kid and started wearing glasses. Other than my eye sight and the weight loss (which I since gained it back), the only other health thing was my gallbladder. I suspect I was having problems with gallstones (it runs in my family), I don’t know if it made it worse over time because of the rapid weight loss or delayed it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I opted for a more traditional western approach, and had surgery. I went about a whole year having gallbladder attacks till it got to the point I couldn’t stand it. Even eating brown rice made me sick. That’s when I knew, that I had to do something more than eating rice. My mother almost died from a bad gallbladder, so maybe that was also another contributing factor to my decision. During this time I met another woman online (from another macro board) who was having the same problem and she went to a macro counselor and where I had actual stones, she had sludge which her counselor said was a result of her body discharging. This counselor proscribed a certain tea (the name escapes me) and a few other remedies, but it seemed to have no affect for this woman. I’m thinking, well my problem is more serious (and believe me if you ever passed a stone, surgery is a breeze), I opted for surgery. I had it done laparoscopically so it wasn’t so invasive. Btw – the hospital I was in could not figure out what the word “vegetarian” is. Also, I didn’t bring my own food and I wasn’t hungry, and they kept giving me food that was heavy in sugar and dairy and meat. So my friends explained to them I don’t eat that stuff. The kitchen actually called me to find out what I did eat. I explained it the best I could, giving I wasn’t feeling well, and I wanted the conversation over. So I just said, send something with no meat, that they understood. One of the staff doctors wasn’t going to let me go home because I wasn’t eating, thank goodness my doctor has a good head on his shoulders and without me having to explain anything said, you’ll eat when you want, but I recommend starting with soup. But afterwards I continued to eat macro, and eventually I started not eating macro but remained a vegetarian. My doctor was actually amazed at my recovery. Apparently when people have their gallbladder removed they experience some diarrhea and a host of other digestive problems. Within four weeks of my surgery I was off roading with my friends and hiking through the woods and felt great! Lately I’ve noticed as my diet has gravitated toward the traditional standard American diet, those symptoms that other people suffer from the lack of gallbladder, I have suffered in the extreme. Yeah we won’t be doing that any more. Fortunately I was fairly healthy when I started, other than a acid reflux which of course disappears when I eat healthy anyway. I hope that helps! Carol Btw – In case your wondering my online friend there opted for surgery too, and afterwards gave up on macro all together and went back to her old diet. I lost track of her so I can’t tell you how she’s doing now, not well I would imagine.
