Guest guest
It was one of my first signs of hypo, caused by no longer making any progesterone way back on the wayback machine, hehe. Wasn't funny at the time, but I had no way of knowing that this was the cause. An oncologist at that time put me on medroxyprogesterone, but it didn't work to stop bleeding, as I probably already a thyroid problem, which was undiagnosed. I opted for hysterectomy, being as I had bled for two wks, every two wks, for about 5 yrs. Noone thought to run a thyroid test! Lack of progesterone seems to be the main reason for this, but, at that time, noone had figured out that the adrenals and thyroid were both messed up. Tx ob/gyn problems just a question for the women...how many had excessive or breakthrough bleeding/heavy periods/etc. problems and were they cleared up after being medicated? thanks, hillary
Guest guest
hi hillary, the way i found out about my hashi's was through a new gynecologist. i filled out the new patient form and described the way my periods have been since adolescence (i'm 30): heavy as hell AND they come every 21-25 days!! i can't even tell you how heavy they are!! i've been on synthroid since last march, and although they've normalized a little bit, my cycles are still short some months and they're still quite heavy some months... but i'm also still trying to get to the right synthroid level. almost every time i go, they have to up my dosage. i guess my thyroid is on it's way out of business completely. jen > just a question for the women...how many had excessive or breakthrough bleeding/heavy periods/etc. problems and were they cleared up after being medicated? > > thanks, > hillary
Guest guest
my periods had been very long and heavy and when i went to have that originally investigated they found pcos. long story later, hashis/hypo came along...i'm on armour and the patch (ortho evra) and a week before my period is due i bleed as well. my ob is doing a water sonogram (already have had one and it's no picnic) next week to make sure (again) that a cyst isn't causing it, etc. she feels that being treated with armour for three months she can no longer blame this on my thyroid. ugh!!! -hillary Re: ob/gyn problems > hi hillary, > > the way i found out about my hashi's was through a new gynecologist. > i filled out the new patient form and described the way my periods > have been since adolescence (i'm 30): heavy as hell AND they come > every 21-25 days!! i can't even tell you how heavy they are!! i've > been on synthroid since last march, and although they've normalized a > little bit, my cycles are still short some months and they're still > quite heavy some months... but i'm also still trying to get to the > right synthroid level. almost every time i go, they have to up my > dosage. i guess my thyroid is on it's way out of business > completely. > > jen > > > > just a question for the women...how many had excessive or > breakthrough bleeding/heavy periods/etc. problems and were they > cleared up after being medicated? > > > > thanks, > > hillary > > > > *Note: Information is freely exchanged on this board based on patient experiences, and should not be considered a medical recommendation. >
Guest guest
What in the world is she talking about? She must have never believed it in the first place because 3 months is NO length of time to own it up to something else yet. Not that many changes have taken place in the body (due to thyroid) in that short amt of time. Aaaaaaa!!!!
