Hi folks,

Some of the research I've seen links EN to RA, either with or precurser to. I can search around and find some links if folks are interested. I suspect that I am headed for RA. My grandmother had it when she was 35, and although doctors won't say there is a heredity link, I think there is.

I have also found out that there are foods that can really effect inflammatory illnesses - the family of nightshades being the worst - tomatoes, eggplant, potatos, etc.

Prednisone is such a harsh drug. I'd suggest to those who are having a hard time to try acupuncture. I'm usually not one to go on and wax poetic about "alternative healing", (always the skeptic) but my last encounter with EN lasted a couple of months rather than 9 months to a year.

My practitioner suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome, so she had a lot of experience with the sometimes unhelpful medical establishment. Thus, she went into practice. I couldn't believe what a help the acupuncture and herbal remedy were. I do need to go back for a "tune up." We have had a lot of rain and humidity which makes me experience inflamation in my legs and joint discomfort even when I'm not having a flare up.

A thought that I have had is an overactive immune system is and overactive immune system. EN and other autoimmune disorders are symptoms. I think the overactive immune is a result of environmental factors like exposure to harmful things on a daily basis. Some of us are more sensitive to these things than others. My EN started when I lived in New York City. Talk about bombarded by harmful stuff!

I don't know. Just some thoughts.

Liz
