Guest guest
I have had PaperPort for some time also, but there is a great new one just released that I like, Scanaway, available at scanaway.com. Scanaway was specifically designed for the small to medium sized medical office, not as a general purpose scanner like the others on the market, or as the basic generic ones included with purchased scanners. It easily handles patient record names and category labels from an EMR list, as well as EOBs and other documents. It has a patient list button if you cannot immediately recall the patient's name, and the previous name is automatically deleted as soon as you select a new name. In particular, it is HIPAA-compliant, with tracking of who accessed which record when. It is easy to print out any scanned document. It can be used with any EMR, or even with a paper-based record system, and with any scanner. I like it because it is easy to use and specialized for a medical office environment. Guest guest
Wes, Thanks for this input...any down sides? Has anyone else compared paperport to scanaway? I ask because I'm about to purchase one, but I've never used either. I'm still early on in preparing to open my practice. Any other drawbacks, comments, suggestions? I assume I won't need OCR and editing abilities since we deal with permanent records that shouldn't be edited anyway, but does this pose a problem elsewhere? such as changing an address, insurance, etc.? (scanaway didn't seem to offer editing) Thanks for any input, - Graham Wesley G. Guest guest
just wondered if you know the cost? > I have had PaperPort for some time also, but there is a great new one > just released that I like, Scanaway, available at scanaway.com. > Scanaway was specifically designed for the small to medium sized medical > office, not as a general purpose scanner like the others on the market, > or as the basic generic ones included with purchased scanners. Guest guest
> just wondered if you know the cost? > Listed on website at $495 for up to 50 users until 5/1/04 (just released YESTERDAY!). Assuming price will jump after 5/1/04. I am impressed with its ability to keep track of who accessed what, from where and when. All data is encrypted and can only be accessed through a password. A lot of money for something so new. I see Paperport has won a lot of awards...anyone see a reason to go with one over the other? Thanks, - Graham
