Guest guest Posted June 2, 2008 Report Share Posted June 2, 2008 Yes, although I don't have anything handy but what I have read in the past is that certain bacteria have certain functions and that they are more heavily colonized in certain areas of the colon than in other areas. For example, I think the body manufactures certain forms of B vitamins more so in certain parts of the colon, than in others, and so it makes sense that when there is a change in the environment, that it is going to perhaps " host " different bacteria more so than those bacteria would be in another part of the tract.
