Hi! I joined a few weeks ago, but have not yet posted. I have a

general question to the group. My 2yo daughter has been on Miralax for

about 10 months now and we have seen no problems with it. We only give

her 1 tsp a day, which is as low as we can go without the problems

starting back up. She's never really been constipated, but if her poop

gets any firmer than mashed potato consistency, she freaks and will

start holding it in fear that it will hurt. So, obviously, when she

does finally go, it does hurt. Anyway, I've had her on the Plum Juice

and we give her a jar of baby food prunes every morning (which I have

to bribe her to get down - always fun!) She also has been trying

Activia lately. Anyway, we're in a fine spot...she's going every day

without issue. My question is...is your feeling that only some kids

have adverse reactions from Miralax or that all will? I ask because I

want to be clear on what you're feeling is about this medicine. We

don't see any issues, but I want to make sure we're not being naive and

the issues won't show until much later. For those of you who had

issues, was it right away or at least within the first year? Thank you

for creating this forum and thank you for your time!

We didn't have any issues right away, but we did have lots of issues later. My daughter started at age 1 and was on Miralax for over a year. Also, at first it worked really well, but later it became a huge problem. She was having 8-12 poops a day, all soft, and they would burn on the way out. Even when she was doing okay on it, my feeling always was, she can't stay on this stuff forever...the doctor told me, " It's really not a problem for her to stay on it forever. " Well, it was a problem! And we were only giving 1/4 teaspoon/day.
