Guest guest
Man, I tell ya, this girl is soooo good at withholding. I've posted before about my dd's withholding. She's now almost 2 and started withholding last summer following a fissure. We had great success in the past with a kiwi a day and/or Babycalm, but the last few months have been killer. I can't get my dd to take the Babycalm. Tried MOM, no go. She won't drink anything except a small amount of raw milk, lots of breastmilk, and some water (doesn't like juice, popsicles, anything sweet). We did a six week dairy free trial for both of us, no change. Her diet is just about pristine, we eat traditional foods style and she gets good, pastured organic meats, butter, coconut oil, olive oil, lots of fruits and veggies. A small amount of whole grains. I don't know what to do anymore. She just holds it and holds it. I can't get her to take anything. If I try to sneak it in her food, she won't eat it. I found a cavity on the back of one of her incisors, so we've been doing xylitol mints and no change. I tried sneaking some xylitol into her yogurt, she takes one bite and tosses it on the floor. I am pretty sure that she has no problems other than being scared, ie, I don't think she starts constipated, she just holds it for so long and won't go. I do suppositories when it gets to be 9, 10, 11, 12 days, when she starts holding her belly, not eating, not sleeping. I keep hoping if she gets cleaned out, gets all the hard stuff out, maybe she'll go on her own. But it doesn't happen. I was wondering if I should try pushing a little fiber. In the past, stuff like an apple and muffins with flaxseed have helped. Her diet is still so spotty, some days she'll eat a ton but others just a tiny bit, maybe she needs some more bulk to speed transit time, give her some urge to go? Is their any form of magnesium that doesn't have to be dissolved like Babycalm does? Thanks,
